Sakezuke are multi-functional
objects for me. I enjoy drinking sake, especially on cool, damp bay area evenings.
They also are a good vehicle for testing new glazes, easy to make, and the number
that I have accumulated adds variety to my evenings.

Three
sakezuke. Variations on a base glaze. Middle sakezuke was slipped to block
iron from the body entering the glaze. |

These
sakezuke were also slipped, but the base glaze used had 3% rio. |

Two
additional sakezuke that came from glaze tests. The one on the right was
slipped on the inside. |
