Tea Bowls

Tea bowls in the Japanese style are a natural choice for pinch building techniques. The bowl is about as large as I can comfortably manipulate. The result is also a size that is comfortable to hold. Within the traditional asethetics associated with the appreciation of tea, it is quite natural to leave the marks of the making on the pot.

A gloss black with slight crawling effect.
A glossy, dark-brown tea bowl. Lighter interior was splashed with an ash glaze.
  Blue-grey and brown tea bowl.
Base glaze with ~10% RIO is black where thicker. Lines formed by wiping my thumb across "cheese hard" clay.
Lighter tea bowl with sprayed decorations.
A smaller variation on the blue-grey color.
