Well, I am not sure what was happening last night, but something was gobbling up cycles on this machine, starting process that I knew nothing about, and locking out the mailbox. My ISP says that there are no signs that I had been hacked. The cgi-log for the system shows that there was an abnormal number and frequency of attempts to post comments to one of the blogs. There was also a lot of spiders hitting the blog a just the same time. The net result is that everything was shut down and there was little I could do to free things.
Today, it all looks clear, but I don't allow unmoderated posts.
