One of the things that I learned from my parents was the fact that the medicines or supplements touted to "cure your arthritis, gastric distress, and high blood pressure" probably do none of the above. When every I come across an ad for one of these, my nose twitches and I start to smell snake oil.
Whenever I come across a politician, think tank talking head or anyone who professes that they have a single policy to cure the problems of humanity my nose twitches and I start to smell snake oil.
One of the attractions of the Green Party for me is the fact that it professes a set of goals in a very concrete way but allows us the freedom to sort through the paths to those goals for ourselves. The path may look different depending on where you begin. I think that the unity of the Green Party, the avoidance of rural / urban splits, the ability to make a difference all depend on our ability to agree on the goals and to discuss the path(s) we need to follow.
