- Why should I join Rural Greens?
- Rural America needs an active voice at all levels. The current Green Party tends to be represented mainly by urban activists. The Rural Caucus is our voice within the party. It is our chance to influence policies and decisions. We need to be able to show the Party Leaders that Rural America Counts. Our voice will be stronger with more members. Your voice will be heard by becoming an active member, since voting on Officer and Issues will be limited to members of the Rural Caucus. If we are not at the table when issues are discussed and decisions are made, we will not be in the conversation. We need all your support to justify our being at the table.
We do not ask anyone to join as members of the caucus when you access our discussion list. That is open to all. Caucus membership is required to take official caucus actions. - Types of Membership:
- Our bylaws define two types of membership, Full and Supporting. In both cases, you must be a member of the Green Party, however that is defined by your state organization. If you reside in a state without a recognized state Green Party organization, then you only need to define yourself as a Green. Only Full membership has voting privileges and can hold caucus offices.
- Membership and decisions:
- It is the intent of the Rural Green Caucus to involve its members in all decisions on caucus business and, most importantly, when taking positions on issues. We will use this BLOG and other facilities to allow the membership to vote on major decisions. However, in order to vote, you must have full membership.
- How can I join?
- You can easily join by submitting the form below. That will add you name to our database and give you the ability to vote on key decisions, such as approving bylaws, electing officers and taking official positions on issues that are of concern to rural America.
- How will we treat information?
- When you join the Rural Green Caucus, you will have to give us some information about yourself. We are asking for the minimum amount of information that is required by the party. This information will only be used in support of caucus business and will not be made generally available except as required by law or to fulfill the accreditation process. In all cases, if this information is requested or required from outside the caucus, you will be notified so that you may challenge it's release. Our default position is that we do not have your permission to share any information.
All of the fields below are mandatory. As mentioned above, this is the minimum information required in the accreditation process.
